Healthwatch Portsmouth to investigate take up and knowledge of extended hours Doctors services

New social prescribing service launched in Portsmouth

In November a new social prescribing service started for Portsmouth residents. NHS publishes guide to healthy caring

The NHS in collaboration with Age UK, Carers UK and the Carers Trust have published a guide to staying healthy for carers. The guide is aimed at anyone who provides regular care to a family member or friend and in particular is aimed at the over 65s. King’s Fund publish report looking at role of volunteers in the NHS

The King's Fund have published a report, commissioned by the Royal Voluntary Service and Helpforce, looking at volunteering in the NHS, the attitudes of paid staff and possible future roles for volunteers. Researchers found that generally NHS staff recognised and valued the role of volunteers in helping patients and ensuring that treatment was succcessful but some raised concerns about role boundaries. £58 million A&E funding boost for QA

The Government has announced that Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham will receive an additional £58 million to redevelop its urgent care facilities. The funding will result in a new accident and emergency department being built as well as a new acute mental health unit and new diagnostic facilities.
