Healthwatch Portsmouth Board meeting hears about future of GP services and St James and St Marys sites

On Wednesday at our Board meeting we heard from Dr Linda Collie, Chief Clinical Officer at Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group, which is responsible for GP services in the city. She set out the CCG’s plans for the future of Doctor services in Portsmouth and integration with new initiatives such as the extended hours services at Lake Road surgery, the acute visiting service and the out of hours service which are now open to all patients across Portsmouth. The CCG is working with Doctors practices to develop these services and ensure that good practice is implemented across the city.

We also heard from Mark Young, who is Head of Estates at Solent NHS Trust. Mark gave us an overview of plans for the St James and St Mary’s sites in Portsmouth which aim to improve the patient experience by locating services together. Work on this initiative is on track to be completed in 2019.

Minutes from the Board meeting will be available here shortly.
