QA Hospital Report

We have seen the media coverage this morning on the Care Quality Commission’s report on the Queen Alexandra (QA) Hospital (here)

We are pleased to report that Healthwatch Portsmouth will be involved in a health summit in early September along with other key parties involved in improving health in the local area.

The meeting will be discussing the improvement plan proposed by the new Portsmouth Hospitals Trust, Chief Executive Officer, Mark Cubbon to identify key actions and roles and confirm governance and quality monitoring steps.

We are very pleased to be part of this health summit which will seek to confirm what support is needed from the different parties involved, including that of Healthwatch Portsmouth ( in order to involve patients and the public) to inform the Trust’s improvement plan.

As a follow-up action to the work that Healthwatch Portsmouth undertook earlier in the year with the ‘QA Urgent Care Pathway Walk-Through’ report (here) and recommendations we made to the management of Portsmouth Hospitals Trust, we will be reviewing whether the trust’s new improvement plan includes work to address the areas of concern we noted and recommendations we made for improvement.
