For Mental Health Awareness Week 2018 national charity the Mental Health Foundation have launched a new tool to help people test how stressed they are.

Using the  evidence-based Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) the MHF’s Stress Test asks a series of questions and then gives a score and an indication of whether this is low, medium or high.

Stress is not a mental health problem in itself but it is a key cause of mental health problems like depression and anxiety and is often linked to self-harm and suicide. Stress is also known to lead to physical health problems like muscle and joint pain and cardiovascular problems.

As well at the Stress Test the MHF have published information and advice on how to manage and reduce stress.
