The Wessex Cancer Alliance is looking to fund the set-up of a social capital network, in the Portsmouth, Fareham and Gosport areas, that will raise awareness of cancer and cancer screening and we wondered if you would like to be involved in the design of this.

Social capital can be a valuable tool in improving people’s health as it makes use of social groups and relationships to influence behaviour for the better. Our aim is to make use of community initiatives, social groups and local knowledge to help raise awareness of cancer, cancer screening and prevention so that people are diagnosed earlier or do not get cancer all.

We are particularly looking for people who are aware of the issues in their local area and may be involved in volunteering or community groups to help us develop this network in the region. For more information, or if you’re interested in being a part of this exciting project, please email Michelle McInnes (m.mcinnes@nhs.net)
