Over 130,000 people to benefit from health check-ups to help prevent diseases such as heart disease, kidney disease and diabetes.
Over 16 million people are eligible for an NHS Health Check. Current data shows that around 40% of those invited went on to complete one. Men are less likely to get early help but more likely to develop cardiovascular disease.
The check-ups began on 30 August and can be completed by employees at their workplace. The aim is to make it more convenient for people to attend. Employers from professions including social care, hospitality and transport sectors are taking part.
Every check is comparable to an NHS appointment. It will aim to help cutting waiting lists, saving thousands of hours of NHS time.
A digital version of the health check will start testing in early 2025. It will be available through the NHS App. They will be piloted by local authorities in Norfolk, Medway and Lambeth.
